More than a million in the US state of Michigan -- or about one in 10 people -- will rely on a food bank this year. Others will subsist on inadequate food choices that contribute to more serious health issues. Some will just go hungry said Jane Marshall executive director of the Food Bank Council of Michigan .
About 274,000 households in Missouri do not have access to adequate food, according to the Missouri Association for Social Welfare . Since 1996 the value of families' food stamps has continually decreased .
